Marriage Timeline Planner

The following Timeline will ensure that details & requirements for marriage in the Church will not become overwhelming. It is intended to help make your wedding planning process as stress-free as possible! Know that we in the Church are praying for you throughout this time of preparation.

By 12 months before the anticipated wedding date

Meet with priest or deacon to initiate marriage preparation process and set the date of the wedding
Register for your Marriage Preparation program. If your parish doesn’t host a program options include:
Living in love to register for “Preparing to Live in Love” mentor OR “Beginning to Live in Love” group sessions
Engaged Encounter Retreats for retreat weekend dates & registration
Register for a Natural Family Planning class series
Pray together for God’s blessings as you prepare for marriage

By 9 months before the wedding date
Complete the F.O.C.C.U.S. inventory & meet with the witnessing priest or deacon
Read about the marriage covenant & Church teaching on marriage & family. You will be inspired!

By 6 months before the wedding date
Complete the Marriage Preparation instructional program. Be sure to obtain your certificate!
Begin the Natural Family Planning class series
This is a great time to pray a rosary together for your future marriage & family

By 3 months before the wedding date
Meet with the priest or deacon to plan the wedding ceremony
Receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (if Catholic)
Spend some time before the Blessed Sacrament; this will be a great opportunity for you to reflect on your marriage vows & you new vocation
