Who is Eligible to Apply?
Familes with students entering grades K – 12 are eligible to apply for aid for the 2008-2009 school year.
What is the Cost to Apply?
There is no cost for the typical family to apply for the SMART evaluation of tuition assistance eligibility or in cases where the student’s school uses SMART for tuition collection.
When can I apply?
Parents can make their application for assistance now. Apply at www.smarttuitionaid.com for fastest processing. The paper application for tuition assistance must be in the SMART Tuition Aid Analysis office by February 28, 2008 in order to be eligible for financial aid. For those who utilize hard-copy applications, it is suggested that applicants mail the application at least one week before this date. If the application is late, families should contact the school to make sure the application will still be considered.
Who will inform me if I am eligible to receive aid?
All final decisions regarding financial aid are made by each individual school. SMART Tuition Aid Analysis does not have this information. If you have not received notification about financial aid, you are asked to contact your school.
What kind of information will I be asked to provide?
Applicants will be asked to provide the most recent W2 statements, most recent paystub, most recent federal tax form, most recent corporate tax return, if applicable, and documentation for all other sources of income (social security, welfare, food stamps, unemployment, child support, workers compensation, etc.) and any 1099’s.
Is the process confidential?
Yes. While parents are asked to provide supporting documentation and to indicate income and expenses, this information is confidential and will not be shared with elementary school administrators or diocesan personnel. In addition, SMART Tuition Aid Analysis uses secure computer servers to ensure the confidentiality of online applications.
What if I have questions about my application?
SMART is available to assist parents with questions about the application process or to check on the status of an application. On line assistance is available at http://smarttuitionaid.com
