Bishop appoints Delegate for Lifelong Faith and Spiritual Formation

Bishop Joseph Galante announced Wednesday that Sr. Roseann Quinn, S.S.J. has been appointed Delegate for Lifelong Faith and Spiritual Formation for the Diocese of Camden.

The appointment is effective December 1.

Sr. Roseann Quinn, who has been director of the St. Pius X Spiritual Life Center since April 2006, will oversee the faith and spiritual formation efforts of multiple diocesan offices, including Worship, Family Life/Respect Life, Evangelization and Adult Faith Formation, Lay Leadership, RCIA, Religious Education, Catholic Schools, Campus Ministry, Hispanic, Ethnic and Black Catholic Ministry, Disabilities, Social Justice Ministry, and Youth and Young Adults.

“Sr. Roseann will bring great wisdom, experience and enthusiasm to this new role, which is designed to focus and integrate the resources of these many diocesan ministries in a way that will advance the priorities that parishioners told me are essential if we are to have a vibrant future,” said Bishop Joseph Galante.  “This appointment and the closer collaboration of these departments will also ensure that our parishes are being served and supported in their own efforts to revitalize parish life and to address key pastoral priorities.”

The six pastoral priorities that were identified through the parish Speak Up sessions that Bishop Galante held in 2005 and 2006 are Lifelong Faith Formation, Youth and Young Adults, Liturgy, Lay Ministry, Vocations, and Compassionate Outreach.

Sister Roseann, a Sister of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia, joined the Diocese of Camden in 2005 as delegate for Spiritual Formation and as program director of the St. Pius X Spiritual Life Center. As director of the Center, she formulated and oversaw short and long-term strategic plans for the Center, designed year-round spirituality programs, retained presenters for various programs, oversaw the annual budget, as well as daily operations, including finances, physical plant and property.

Prior to joining the diocese, Sister Roseann was dean of the School of Graduate Studies of Chestnut Hill College. She also served as assistant professor of Education and Religious Studies and was chair of the Religious Studies Department and the Graduate Holistic Spirituality Program.

She holds a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Chestnut Hill College, a master of education in religious education from Boston College, a master of arts in Christian spirituality and spiritual direction from Creighton University, and a doctor of ministry degree from Catholic Theological Union at Chicago, with a specialization in Christian spirituality.

“I hope to foster a sense of teamwork and collaboration that will ready us to meet the great challenges that are before us,” said Sr. Roseann.  “I look forward to calling forth the gifts of our diocesan team, as well as our parishes, to more deeply form the people of the diocese in the faith at every stage of life’s journey.”
