(January 19, 2006) – In Camden and Cumberland counties, moving vans will load and leave the Diocese of Camden Friday, Jan. 21 with furniture donations for hurricane evacuees who have relocated to Austin, Tex., and Nashville, Tenn.
The trucks will be loaded beginning 9 a.m. Saturday and are expected to leave at 4 p.m. the same day. Donations of new or gently used furniture, as well as volunteers, are needed for the effort in both Camden and Vineland. Te people who will benefit are evacuees relocated because of devastation in August 2005 by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita.
Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Camden hired McCollisters United Van Lines, located at 1800 Rte.130, North Burlington. The trucks will arrive Friday, Jan. 20 at both 1845 Haddon Ave., Camden, Camden County, and 810 Montrose St., Vineland, Cumberland County.
The cost of hiring the two trucks and drivers is being paid for by Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Camden, Desparrois said. The trucks were obtained at a “flat rate” through the help of Dennis J. Mazar, Senior Vice President, McCollisters United Van Lines. Volunteers will work from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 21 at both sites for donations of new or gently used furniture to arrive. Volunteers will load the trucks. The truck leaving with furniture from Camden is expected to arrive in Nashville, Tenn., on Monday.
The truck with furniture leaving Vineland will arrive in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday. To donate in Cumberland County, call John J.
