This educational forum and “Thanksgiving Celebration” is aimed at not only raising awareness of the issues that many refugees, immigrants and undocumented aliens face as they come into our communities, but celebrating the rich cultures of refugees from around the world through their festive foods. The dinner will feature traditional American foods, as well as those from Central America, Southeast Asia, and Africa.
The 25-30 refugees expected to attend will be provided with information about the services that Catholic Charities provides, including resettlement services, emergency financial assistance, counseling, and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. Diocesan personnel, parishioners, high school students, community residents and other community members also will be participating.
