Through the Holy Door, diocesan youth walk in solidarity with young church at World Youth Day

By Peter G. Sánchez

Yesterday morning, July 25, youth from Our Lady of Peace, Williamstown and the Parish Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Lindenwold braved the heat as they walked 7+ miles from Saint Mary Church in Williamstown, to pass through the Holy Door of Mercy at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mary Mother of Mercy Parish in Glassboro, in solidarity with the young church currently in Poland for World Youth Day.

Keeping cool by drinking water, praying the rosary and singing songs of worship during their walk, the youth met up with others from Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, who did their own walk from Pitman to Glassboro. Once inside the church, youth prayed in front of the Blessed Sacrament and went to confession. Afterward, the hungry travelers enjoyed food and each other’s fellowship in Marian Hall. July 25 is the feast of Saint James, patron of pilgrim travelers.
