Saint Joseph Church, Somers Point DIRECTOR OF MUSIC
Part-time (12 months per year)
The Director of Music is responsible for collaborating with clergy, staff, ministry leaders, musicians, and volunteers to plan and execute all parish liturgies.
Plans music for all parish liturgies, and shares it with other musicians
Provides music for at least two masses per weekend, most Holy Days, and Sacrament of Confirmation
Recruits, trains, and schedules all Musicians (Cantors, Accompanists, Instrumentalists, etc.)
Communicates clearly, effectively, and regularly with clergy, staff, and musicians
Directs choir and practices with cantors, musicians as needed
Orders music and pew resources (Missals, Music Issue, and additional resources as necessary)
Provides guidance and implements changes in liturgical music protocol for the Seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Ordinary Time, and selects appropriate music as needed
Qualifications Include:
Proficiency in keyboard skills or organ skills
Some experience in liturgical music preferred
Practicing Catholic preferred, with demonstrated knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy, role of music within the liturgy
Salary Range: $20-$23 per hour
