New local Knights and Ladies of The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem

On Oct. 31 The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, Eastern Lieutenancy of the United States, invested 13 new members from the Diocese of Camden. The investiture took place at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

Knights and Ladies
Bishop Dennis Sullivan with Sheryll McGravey, Msgr. Louis Marucci, pastor of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Gibbsboro, Daniel McGravey, and Kathryn M. Emrich.

The Order is one of the oldest and most historic Chivalric Orders of the Roman Catholic Church. It originates from the time of the First Crusade in 1099, when Godfrey de Bouillon reclaimed Jerusalem and the Holy Lands from the Turks and established a guard of honor to protect one of the region’s most sacred sites — the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Today, the Order is an international association of the
Christian faithful whose mission is to support the needs of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and its Christian community. It is governed by the ordinary regulations of Canon Law, the dispositions of the Church, and the rules of its own Constitution.
