Locations set for Forming Conscience sessions

As the presidential campaign political rhetoric continues to heighten, a Diocesan Roundtable group is working to present an evening of information and dialogue based upon the document “Forming Conscience for Faithful Citizenship: A Call to Political Responsibility,” published by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

More specifically, this forum will outline why the Catholic Church teaches about issues affecting public policy and how the church helps Catholics speak about political/social questions from a moral perspective. What this session will not do is tell attendees for whom to vote.

Additionally, program facilitators will discuss key themes on Catholic social teaching and how to apply Catholic teaching to major issues relative to human life, family life, social justice and global solidarity in the context of the election and your vote.

Starting in mid-September through early October, a team of facilitators will conduct “dialogue” sessions in nine areas of the Diocese of Camden (six in English and three in Spanish) in which the significant elements of “Forming Conscience” will be presented and afford the audience a opportunity to interact with each other regarding the various components.

The nine regional sites and dates selected are:

  • St. Joseph Pro-Cathedral, Camden, (Spanish), Sept. 17
  • St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Absecon, Sept. 18
  • St. Padre Pio, Vineland, Sept. 18
  • Our Lady Star of the Sea, Atlantic City. (Spanish), Sept. 24
