The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated on December 12 in recognition of the day when the Blessed Virgin Mary first appeared to an Aztec Indian, Juan Diego, near Mexico City, Mexico in 1531.
Last year, more than 2,000 people from various cultures including Puerto Rican, Mexican, Dominican, Nicaraguan, Salvadorian, Guatemalans, Ecuadorian, and non-Hispanic participated in the feast day Mass and procession to the church. This year the procession will begin at 6:30 PM at 23rd and Federal Streets.
