9.8.06 Interfaith Prayer Service Marks World Trade Center Attacks

CAMDEN — A survivor of the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center will offer a reflection on the fifth anniversary of that day during an interfaith prayer service at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception:

Medford Lakes resident David Piereth, who will speak at the interfaith prayer service at the Cathedral, was working on the 74th floor of the World Trade Center in 2001. Raised in Hackettstown, N.J., he graduated from Richard Stockton College, Pomona, where he met his future wife, Jodi. They were married in St. Michael Church, Atlantic City.

Representatives of various faith traditions will participate, including Rabbi Steve Lindemann, Senior Rabbi of Temple Beth Sholom in Cherry Hill, and Reverend Warren D. Light, Methodist Minister and Chaplain of the New Jersey State Fire Chiefs’ Association. Monsignor Michael Mannion, rector of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, will preside.

The event is being co-sponsored by the Camden County Fire Marshall’s Office, N.J. State Police, Camden Police Department, Delaware River Port Authority Police, Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Camden County Sheriff’s Office, Camden Fire Department, St. Pius X Spiritual Life Center, League of the Sacred Heart and University EMS — Camden.
