8.19.05 Bishop to Celebrate Farm Masses

CAMDEN (August 19, 2005) – Bishop Joseph A. Galante will celebrate two farm Masses for both farmers and farmworkers on:

Monday, August 22, 2005
Marino Brothers Farm,
Route 45
Swedesboro, Gloucester County
7:00 p.m.
and
Thursday, August 25, 2005
Larchmont Farms,
Route 77
Bridgeton, Cumberland County
7:00 p.m.

Annually, the farm Masses are celebrated to meet the spiritual needs of farmers and laborers in rural areas of Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem counties. Bishop also celebrated a farm Mass on Aug. 11 at Panther Farms, Vineland, which was attended by 200 people. “The diocese recognizes that the farming community is the backbone of our area and also recognizes their need for prayer,” said Sister Kathleen Brown, Director of the Hispanic Ministry for the Diocese of Camden. The Masses are celebrated in English and in Spanish at the end of the farm work day at designated farms in the Diocese of Camden.
