6.21.07 Bishop to Ordain Blackwood Native

Most Reverend Joseph A. Galante, D.D., J.C.D., Bishop of Camden, will ordain Rev. Mr. Michael Romano, 25, from Blackwood to the priesthood on:

Saturday, June 23
10:30 AM
St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus
13 E. Evesham Road
Runnemede, NJ 08078

Romano, a 1999 graduate of Paul VI High School, Haddon Township attended the University of Scranton for one year before entering St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in May 2000, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. He recently completed four years of theological studies at the Pontifical North American College in Rome and has been serving as a deacon there since October.  Romano said he entered the seminary unsure of his calling, feeling that “it was something I had to attempt in order to be sure I was making the right choice for my life. I entered in some ways just to get the Lord to leave me alone, not certain that I would remain.”

His first assignment will be as summer parochial vicar at St. Joseph, Sea Isle City, starting in July. At the end of September, he will return to Pontifical North American College.  Romano will be the fifth priest ordained in the Diocese of Camden this year. The others include Father Robert J. D’Imperio of North Cape May, Father Thanh Quoc Pham of Philadelphia, Father Yvans Jazon of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and Father Jaime Hostios of Bogota, Columbia
