COVID-19 Protocols January 7

The only mandate regarding masking is for priests, deacons and Extraordinary Ministers during the distribution of Holy Communion until the end of January.  Parishioners should be encouraged to wear masks for the next few weeks during this current Omicron Surge.

The matter of Holy Water is to be determined locally. If a pastor is comfortable restoring holy water to the stoops inside the doors, he may do so. The recommendation is that where holy water is being used – it should be changed frequently.

The Sign of Peace should be conducted at Mass but the faithful are to be reminded that there is no requirement that they shake hands with other members of the assembly.

The presence of a choir remains a local call. The pastor must determine whether the space provided for music ministry can accommodate choir members while maintaining social distance protocols. It is advisable that where choirs are functioning, choir members be masked.

Again, frequently touched surfaces and common spaces should be diligently cleaned in order to lessen the possibility of COVID transmission.
