CDM recognizes that the members of our parish communities who have experienced separation and divorce, through their vulnerability, courage, and patient endurance, serve as a witness to Christ and his redeeming grace. This ministry offers support in coping with the grief that comes with separation, divorce and the issues of single parenthood. Spiritual and education opportunities are available through the programs of CDM.
DivorceCare consists of thirteen sessions during which peers can share insights gained from their own experiences and from the informational DVDs viewed. Reflective questions and/or exercises are provided for every session to promote full group participation. The meeting format provides sufficient structure to keep the discussions meaningful, yet open enough to allow a free exchange of ideas and experiences. This recovery program is produced by Church Initiative, Inc. and there is a component in it for reconciliation.
Divorce and Beyond is a ten week program written by Brother James Greteman, C.S.C. and Leon Haverkamp, M.S.W. It focuses on the transition – or mourning period of the divorce process. Participants engage with a text rich in reflective activities and rituals.
