Bishop Galante to preside at White Mass for Healthcare Professionals on October 12

Most Reverend Joseph A. Galante, D.D., J.C.D, Bishop of Camden, will preside at the tenth annual White Mass in honor of physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals:

At the Mass, the St. Luke Award will be presented to healthcare professionals in the diocese who exemplify Catholic values. This year the award recipients are:

Gerard Ventrella, M.D., St. Ann’s Parish, Elmer
Susan Ventrella, D.O., St. Ann’s Parish, Elmer
Kay Peters, R.N., Incarnation Parish, Mantua
Anna Tosti, LNHA, St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Egg Harbor Township
Rev. Howard Muhlbaier, Saints Peter & Paul Parish, Turnersville

The “White Mass” is traditionally celebrated in late October around the feast of St. Luke, observed on October 18. St. Luke, the inspired author of the third Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles, was a physician.
A catered reception, sponsored by Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, will immediately follow the Mass along with a presentation by guest speaker, Dr. Gregory Burke, M.D. on “An Examination of Conscience for Catholic Physicians.”
