Catholic Charities Annual Dinner 2023

Catholic Charities, South Jersey
19th Annual Dinner 2023 | October 11

Resorts Hotel, Atlantic City

EVENT WEBPAGE

The Catholic Charities Annual Dinner & Award Ceremony serves the purpose of honoring the extraordinary service performed by individuals who demonstrate commitment to social justice and the needs of the poor while also raising funds that allow Catholic Charities to provide direct assistance to those they serve.

Every penny raised is used to serve those in Southern New Jersey who are in need, regardless of their faith. Inflation, higher costs of living, and the lack of affordable housing are affecting families like never before. The Annual Dinner enables us to provide mercy and comfort to those in our communities who are experiencing eviction, homelessness, mental health issues, substance abuse, and more. The support makes life less cold and more just. That is our duty and responsibility.

The Annual Dinner helps ensure Catholic Charities is there to meet the needs of our clients, allowing us to perform essential services such as counseling, employment, adoptions, domestic violence support, veteran support, and other services that work to create stabilization and self-sufficiency for individuals, families, and communities.

About the 2023 Honoree

Ali A. Houshmand, Ph.D.
President of Rowan University

Dr. Ali A. Houshmand became Rowan University’s seventh president in 2012 after serving for approximately six years as provost/senior vice president, CEO and interim president.

Inaugurated Sept. 20, 2013, Houshmand is a dynamic leader whose personal connection with students, employees, alumni, government leaders, the business community and the public has become a hallmark of his presidency.

A lifelong believer in the power of education, Houshmand holds master’s and doctoral degrees in industrial and operations engineering. His entrepreneurial approach to growing the University has focused on four goals: increasing access, improving quality, ensuring affordability, and promoting economic development. His success is evident.

Under Houshmand, Rowan has evolved from a well-regarded state school to a rising Carnegie-classified national research university with two medical schools and, soon, New Jersey’s first veterinary school. Rowan is the third fastest-growing research university among public doctoral institutions.
