David B. Reader, a Westmont resident and teacher at Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill, has been awarded a James Madison Fellowship by the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation of Washington, D.C., in its 16th annual fellowship competition.
The foundation’s goal with this fellowship is to “recognize promising and distinguished teachers, to strengthen their knowledge of the origins and development of American constitutional government, and thus to expose the nation’s secondary school students to accurate knowledge of the nation’s constitutional heritage.”
Named in honor of the fourth president of the United States, the fellowship will fund up to $24,000 of Reader’s course of study toward a master’s degree. It is required that the program include a concentration of courses on the history and principles of the United States Constitution.
Recipients must teach American history or social studies in a secondary school for at least one year, for each year they receive fellowship support.
Reader is a graduate of Holy Saviour, Westmont, Camden Catholic, and LaSalle University, Pennsylvania.
