8.23.05 Young Pilgrims Return Home From World Youth Day

CAMDEN (August 23, 2005) – Youth and chaperones from the Diocese of Camden will return home today, Tuesday, Aug. 23 from World Youth Day 2005 in Cologne Germany.

The group of 100 will arrive from London at Philadelphia International Airport at 7:10 p.m aboard British Airways Flight 89 where they will be greeted by family and friends and taken to their final destination – their homes. The group left for World Youth Day 2005 in Cologne, Germany on Aug. 9 and visited Marian shrines at Fatima, Portugal, and Lourdes Frances, as well as Oberammergau, Germany, according to Father Tom Barcellona, Executive Director of Youth Ministry for the Diocese of Camden who led the trip.

World Youth Day began in Germany on Aug. 16 and ended on Sunday, Aug. 21 with a Mass celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI. Those traveling for World Youth Day 2005 from the Diocese of Camden are from Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Salem and Gloucester counties.
