Most Reverend Joseph A. Galante, D.D., J.C.D. We are grateful to Almighty God for the election today of Pope Benedict XVI.
This is a time of great joy, optimism and hope for the Church and for the world. The new pope is a man of brilliant intellect, great humility, and was much beloved for his pastoral style as Archbishop of Munich. He is a man who served the Church faithfully as he worked to safeguard the integrity of Catholic teaching as Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
He also has a deep understanding of the needs of the Church in this new century. We offer our prayers for Pope Benedict XVI and ask that the Holy Spirit guide him in his ministry to God’s people.
