Bishop Dennis Sullivan to preside virtually at Holy Week and Easter Liturgies and Services via Live Stream Broadcast from the Camden Cathedral
Most Reverend Dennis J. Sullivan, D.D., Bishop of Camden, will celebrate Holy Week and Easter liturgies and services this year via a live stream from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Camden, without a congregation.
All Masses and services will be broadcast via the following Diocese of Camden channels:

Passion (Palm) Sunday
Sunday, April 5, 2020
10:30 a.m.

Passion (Palm) Sunday opens Holy Week, the most solemn week in the Church’s liturgical year.   On this day, the Church celebrates Jesus’ entrance into the city of Jerusalem. This year, the Mass will be celebrated without a congregation, with palms blessed, but not distributed at this time.
 

The Chrism Mass
(postponed)

The Chrism Mass is postponed this year and will be re-scheduled for another time with the renewal of priestly commitment and the blessing/consecration of oils occurring at that time.  Oils/chrism from the current supplies (currently in use) may continue to be used until a new supply is blessed/consecrated and made available

Mass of the Lord’s Supper
Thursday, April 9, 2020
7 p.m.

This Mass commemorates the institution of the sacraments of the Eucharist and Holy Orders. The Mass of the Lord’s Supper in the evening marks the beginning of the Easter Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter celebrations).

Service of the Lord’s Passion (Good Friday)
Friday, April 10, 2020
3 p.m.

Good Friday, includes the commemoration of the Passion and death of Jesus with the reading of the Passion, special intercessions, a form of veneration of the Cross, and a Communion service (virtual this year).  In accord with the ancient tradition of the Church, Mass is not celebrated on Good Friday.

Easter Vigil
Saturday, April 11, 2020
7 p.m.

At this Mass, adult catechumens (those preparing for Baptism) usually receive the Sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist) during the liturgy.  This year, due to social distancing protocols, the Rite of Christian Initiation and/or Reception into Full Communion is postponed and will be re-scheduled once restrictions are lifted.

Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord

Easter, the greatest and oldest Christian feast, commemorates the Resurrection of Christ from the dead.  The observance of this mystery extends through the Easter season, which lasts until the Feast of Pentecost, a period of 50 days.
