School Action Alert from New Jersey Catholic Conference

New Jersey Catholic School supporters recommended to contact Governor Christie’s office.

ISSUE:  The Appropriations Act for the FY ’15 Budget contains three things important for nonpublic schools:

  1. The “Notwithstanding Language” limiting nonpublic nursing services to $77.20 has been removed, thus permitting the nonpublic school accounts to take full effect.
  2. An increase in the Nonpublic School Technology Initiative by $2.441 million.
  3.  An additional increase in nursing services of $2.159 million.

The issue now switches to action with Governor Christie.

OUR POSITION: The New Jersey Catholic Conference and the New Jersey Network of Catholic School Families fully support the additions to the FY ’15 Budget.

ACTION:          Call, write, or email IMMEDIATELY the Office of Governor Chris Christie asking him to retain the nonpublic school amounts in the FY’15 Budget. You can contact Governor Christie’s office by calling 609-292-6000, using his email contact page http://www.nj.gov/governor/contact/, or our Voter Voice System at https://votervoice.net/NJCC/Campaigns/36529/Respond.

This must be done immediately.
