Father Kevin Mohan became the newest priest in the Diocese of Camden on May 18, after being ordained by Bishop Dennis Sullivan at a morning Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Camden.

In front of his brother priests, family, and friends, Rev. Mr. Mohan, 28, professed his respect and obedience to Bishop Sullivan and prostrated himself in prayer. Bishop Sullivan, followed by the gathered priests — including Bishop Emeritus Joseph Galante, who oversaw Father Mohan during most of his formation — then laid his hands on the candidate’s head and prayed for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
After being ordained by the bishop, Father Mohan was vested with his priestly stole and chasuble by Father Christopher Markellos.
Bishop Sullivan then anointed the newly-ordained’s hands with holy chrism, and presented him with a paten and chalice, holding the bread and wine to be consecrated into the body and blood of Christ.
Finally, with the fraternal kiss, the bishop sealed the admittance of the newly-ordained into priestly ministry.
The next day, Father Mohan celebrated his first Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and Shrine in Lindenwold, where he served as a transitional deacon.
A Blackwood native, Father Mohan is a graduate of Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill, and studied at St. Charles Seminary, Overbrook, Pa., and St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore.
On June 3, Father Mohan will begin his first assignment as parochial vicar at Our Lady of Peace Parish in Williamstown.
