Youth from six counties in the Diocese of Camden will trade fun in the sun for service down shore as part of the Summer in the City service project. From August 8 through August 14, the week-long community service project provides high school teenagers the opportunity to volunteer at various work sites in Atlantic City including Catholic Charities, The Rescue Mission, Sr. Jean Webster’s Kitchen, and the Atlantic County Food Bank. Lodging will be provided at the Holy Trinity Parish Center in Longport.
According to Joseph Zagarella, Director of Youth Ministries, “The combination of service at multiple work sites and reflection sessions gives our young people the chance to use their talents and abilities to help their neighbor, and increase their awareness and understanding of the importance of the rights and dignity of the human person.”
