Six Catholic high school students from the Camden Diocese have been recognized as being among the finest basketball players in the country through their nomination to the 2007 McDonald’s All American high school basketball teams. The five were among 54 high school students from the Greater Philadelphia Region that were honored.

The individuals are Absecon’s Brian Crilley, Chelsi Johnson and Cliff Spiller, Holy Spirit High School; Cherry Hill’s Anthony Jeune, Camden Catholic High School; Haddonfield’s Meghan Harker, Paul VI High School and Wildwood’s Anthony Raffa, Wildwood Catholic High School.

The players rank among the top 2,500 high school basketball players, competing to fill 24 positions on the boys team and 24 positions on the girls team.

The McDonald’s All American Basketball Team Selection Committee, a group of prominent basketball experts including nationally-renowned coaches and top high school sports journalists, nominated the players and will announce the final team roster on Feb. 24.

Each game will feature an East vs. West showdown. The sixth annual girls game will air live on ESPNU at 5:30 pm, EST., and the 30th anniversary of the boys game will air live on ESPN at 8 p.m., EST., on Wednesday, March 28, from Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky.

A portion of the proceeds from the games will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) of Kentuckiana. McDonald’s All American alumni include current WNBA MVP candidate Seimone Augustus and NBA basketball greats Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and LeBron James.
