White Mass for Healthcare Professionals on Sunday, Oct. 24

Most Reverend Joseph A. Galante, D.D., J.C.D, Bishop of Camden, will preside at the twelfth annual White Mass in honor of physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden.

At the Mass, the St. Luke Award for leadership in Catholic health in Southern New Jersey will be presented to: Catherine A. Michon, M.D., Josephine M. Heisler, R.N., and Joanne R. Thomas, Esq.

The “White Mass” is traditionally celebrated in late October around the feast of St. Luke, observed on October 18. St. Luke, the inspired author of the third Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles, was a physician.

A reception, sponsored by Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, will immediately follow the Mass along with a presentation by Rev. Lawrence E. Polansky from St. Isidore Parish in Vineland on “A Journey in Science…A Journey in Faith.”
