A two-day bi-lingual event will take place the first weekend of May in the Diocese of Camden, addressing the current reality of immigration in the United States, and its effect on Latino Catholics in America.
Sponsored by the diocese’s offices of Hispanic Ministry, and Life & Justice, the “Immigration and Latino Community” programs will take place on Friday, May 4, at Saint Charles Borromeo Parish, Sicklerville (English-language) and on Saturday, May 5, at the John Paul II Retreat House in Vineland (Spanish-language).
The two days will discuss today’s global migratory reality, and empower pastoral ministers to support our immigrant and refugee brothers and sisters, consistent with the initiative Share the Journey from Pope Francis.
“Immigration is a very important topic in our country today, particularly due to the complex reality that it implies for our Latino community,” said Andres Arango, Bishop’s Delegate for Hispanic Ministry in the Diocese of Camden.
“We hope these presentations will help us to be more sensitive to our immigrant brothers and sisters and share closely in their journey,” he continued.
Both days are from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., are free admission, and include a Latino lunch.
Jeffrey Wallace, Relationship Manager for Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Region, will be the guest speaker for the English-language session in Sicklerville, while Roberto Rojas, CRS’ Senior Advisor for National Hispanic Engagement, will lead the Spanish-language session in Vineland.
