Listening session for young people May 16

Written by Peter G. Sánchez
In preparation for the Bishops’ Synod next year on “Young People, the Faith, and Vocational Discernment,” the Diocese of Camden’s Office of Youth, Young Adult, and Campus Ministries is holding a listening session on the evening of Tuesday, May 16, seeking the input of South Jersey’s young church.
In a letter this past January, Pope Francis wrote to young people that the Catholic Church “wishes to listen to your voice, your sensitivities and your faith; even your doubts and your criticism. Make your voice heard, let it resonate in communities and let it be heard by your shepherds of souls.”
Along with the Holy Father, “Bishop Dennis Sullivan desires for their voices to be heard,” said Greg Coogan, director of Youth, Young Adult, and Campus Ministries for the Diocese of Camden, with the goal to “develop young adult leaders, and more effective ministry to young adults” throughout South Jersey.
The gathering for Catholics and non-Catholics alike, aged 18-30s, will include a free dinner and open forum, and will be held at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish’s McLaughlin Hall, 809 Park Ave., Collingswood, at 7 p.m. To RSVP for dinner, e-mail Greg Coogan at Gregory.coogan@camdendiocese.org
Young adults are also encouraged to take a 15-minute survey on how the diocese can best serve them, at www.camdendiocese.org/synod-2018
