POSITION: Coordinator of Black Catholic Ministry & Cultural Diversity
STATUS: Part-time position
The Coordinator serves as a catalyst for change in areas of promoting the evangelization, pastoral and cultural needs of people of African ancestry, and provides information and resources for the Bishop, diocesan staff, and parishes. Serves as liaison between the Bishop and the Burmese, Filipino, Korean, Native American & Vietnamese communities, as well as all other underrepresented groups in the diocese. Collaborates with the Office of the Hispanic Apostolate, diocesan staff and parishioners in order to assess and meet the needs of the community. Initiates opportunities to assist diocesan parishes to be welcoming and respectful to people of African ancestry.
Requires a bachelor’s degree and professional work experience. Experience working with ethnic groups is preferred. Required skills include leadership abilities in community organizing, working with volunteers, program management; planning and administration abilities; interpersonal-relational skills in communication, collaboration, facilitation of meetings with diverse groups of people; and strong written and verbal communication skills.
