Associate Hospital Chaplain – Exempt – Part-time (20 hours per week)

LOCATION: AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (Mainland Division) – Pomona AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (City Division) – Atlantic City Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation – Pomona

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work collaboratively with Catholic Hospital Chaplain in cluster of Hospitals assigned to coordinate and deliver pastoral care. Work with hospital staff to become aware of patients who request a Catholic Chaplain visit them while hospitalized and provide them the appropriate pastoral visit. Coordinate the work for the Priest Chaplain to complete his responsibilities of sacramental service. Coordinate the visits by lay Eucharistic Ministers and visitors from local parishes. In the absence of the Chaplain for that cluster, will coordinate the needs of patients in consultation with the local parishes to respond to emergencies and the appropriate request for sacraments. Be the liaison between the Hospital Catholic Chaplain and the local parishes to inform them of parishioners who wish them notified of their hospitalization. Be the liaison with the hospital Administration in order to secure feedback and support for the Catholic Chaplaincy program.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 1 unit of CPE training or related hospital chaplaincy experience and training. (CPE credential preferred). Minimum 1 year experience in a Hospital Chaplain role. Understanding and ability to articulate Catholic Healthcare Ethical and Religious Directive. Bilingual preferred (English/ Spanish), but not required. Excellent oral communication skills are required. The person should exhibit a positive attitude, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to work collaboratively with priest chaplains, hospital administrators, local Pastors, volunteers, and a variety of community partners.
